Bambalinas:

A Digital Memory of Contemporary Street Theatre in Latin America.

Teatro de las Raíces

The Comparsa Hijos del Cóndor began in 2009, as part of the Instituto Popular de Cultura de Cali, an educational institution with more than 65 years of experience in education of the arts in the city of Santiago de Cali. The comparsa writes its history as a solid, stable and permanent collective that manages to assemble the four artistic disciplines that the institute offers: dance, visual arts, music, and theater. From the training laboratory made up of students under the direction of teacher William Ruano Sotelo, new knowledge is weaved by creating projects and assemblies designed for open spaces. This process strengthens academic and research training within the Institute through new ways of approaching corporeality. By reclaiming streets and public spaces, art is brought to the community making it more fruitful and building popular culture. It is currently made up of 30 artists from different disciplines.
